About this plant
Monstera 'Jungle Mint' is a variegated Monstera of great interest to collectors due to its combination of deep green tones, mint green, and cream or whitish areas distributed in a marbled pattern across the leaves. Unlike other variegated Monsteras with harsher contrasts, the visual effect of this plant is usually softer and more watercolor-like, with irregular transitions between colors.
Its growth habit is climbing, like other Monstera deliciosa species, so it appreciates a support, moss pole, or other vertical trellis. As it matures and is grown in good conditions, it can develop larger leaves and more pronounced fenestrations, although the exact shape of each leaf will depend on the plant's age, the amount of light it receives, and its specific condition. "Mint" variegated Monsteras are characterized by their mint-green or greenish-white variegation, which has a less uniform, marbled pattern than other variegated forms.
What makes it special
Its value lies in the combination of classic Monstera morphology and less common variegation, with cool tones and real changes from leaf to leaf. It's not just interesting because it's variegated, but because of the way that variegation is integrated into the leaf: mottled areas, lighter areas, intermediate greens, and contrasts that can vary greatly between specimens.
It is a particularly attractive plant for those who already grow Monsteras or Araceae and are looking for a variety with its own character, without falling into an overly artificial or excessively white aesthetic.
Grown in El Campito Verde
At El Campito Verde, we cultivate and acclimate our plants in controlled environments, carefully monitoring light, humidity, ventilation, and the specific needs of each species. For this Monstera 'Jungle Mint', we use an aerated and well-draining substrate mix designed to promote root oxygenation and reduce the risk of overwatering, which is especially important for variegated aroids.
We don't buy plants just to resell them: we observe them, keep them in stable conditions, and adjust the cultivation according to their needs.
Basic care
Light: It needs plenty of indirect light. Insufficient light can slow growth and reduce the quality of the variegation.
Watering: Water when the top of the substrate begins to dry out. Avoid keeping the root ball constantly soaked.
Substrate: airy, well-draining, and rich in structure. A mix for aroids with coconut fiber, perlite, bark, pumice, or similar materials works well.
Humidity: It appreciates medium-high ambient humidity, although the most important thing is to combine it with good ventilation.
Temperature: Ideally, grow above 18°C. Avoid cold, dry drafts, and sudden changes.
Difficulty level: medium. It's not an impossible plant, but it requires more attention than a common green Monstera, especially in terms of light, watering, and environmental stability.
Like other aroids, it can be toxic if ingested, so it should be kept out of reach of pets or small children.
Before you buy
Plants are living beings, and each specimen may differ from the photographs in size, number of leaves, intensity of variegation, proportion of light tones, and growth pattern. In variegated varieties, these differences are not a defect but rather part of the plant's natural behavior.
