About this plant
Epipremnum amplissimum variegata is a tropical climbing aroid, prized for its long, narrow, lanceolate leaves, quite distinct from those of more common pothos. It has an elegant and somewhat more slender form, with green leaves displaying variegated areas in shades of cream, pale yellow, or lighter green, depending on the individual plant and leaf.
As with many Epipremnum species, it can initially be grown as a trailing plant, but it develops its climbing characteristics much better when provided with a support, stake, or trellis. With good indirect light and stable environmental conditions, the leaves tend to increase in size and appearance.
What makes it special
What's interesting about this plant isn't just the variegation, but the combination of its narrow leaves, upright growth habit, and irregular color pattern. Compared to other, more common Epipremnum species, it has a cleaner, more botanical appearance, less like a "garden center plant" and more fitting for a collection of tropical aroids.
It is a good option for those looking for a different variegated plant, with manageable growth and potential to form a very attractive climbing plant over time.
Grown in El Campito Verde
At El Campito Verde, we don't treat this plant as a simple buy-and-sell transaction. The specimens are cultivated and acclimatized in our facilities, with controlled light, good ventilation, and humidity appropriate for tropical aroids.
We keep it in an airy and well-draining mix, designed to promote root oxygenation and reduce the risk of overwatering, which is especially important for variegated plants and Epipremnum grown in pots.
Basic care
Light: It needs plenty of indirect light. It can tolerate less light, but variegation and growth will be better in a bright location without strong direct sunlight.
Watering: Water when the top of the substrate begins to dry out. It is not advisable to keep it constantly wet.
Substrate: loose, airy mix with good drainage. Avoid compact or overly waterlogged substrates.
Humidity: prefers medium-high ambient humidity, although it can adapt to stable domestic conditions.
Temperature: preferably keep above 18°C. Avoid cold, drafts and sudden changes.
Difficulty level: easy intermediate. It's not a complicated plant if it receives good light and watering is controlled, but variegation requires a bit more stability than in green forms.
It can be toxic if ingested, as is the case with many aroids, so it should be kept out of reach of pets or small children.
Before you buy
Each plant is a living specimen and may present slight differences compared to the photographs: size, number of leaves, intensity of variegation, growth pattern, or color distribution. These variations are part of the plant's natural character.
